DR. JANET FETT

drfett

Dr. Janet Fett has her undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University at Mankato and worked as a microbiologist prior to receiving her Doctor of Optometry and Masters in Physiological Optics from The Ohio State University.

After graduation, she completed an ocular disease residency at the Omaha Eye Institute. In 1989, she joined Dr. Kincaid in South Sioux City. She grew up in the Sioux Falls area.

Dr. Fett lives in South Sioux City with her daughters Katie and Sara. The girls keep her busy, but they enjoy the times they can all get away; especially when they go to Spearfish Canyon in SD. Dr. Fett is her family's historian and has researched her genealogical roots back to Europe and has been in contact with "cousins" from all over. She also enjoys reading.

Dr. Fett has served many years on the Boys and Girls Home of Nebraska Board and the Health Care Advisory Board for the Siouxland Family Center. She is a life long member of the Nebraska Optometric Association and has served as its President as well as board & committee member.

Dr. Fett's awards include 1991 Young OD of the Year, 2001 Optometrist of the Year, 1996 Optimist of the Year and has received the South Sioux City Volunteer award for her work with Special Olympics in 2008. For several years, she has participated in the Special Olympics Opening Eyes program, where athletes can receive vision screenings and basic eyewear. She was one of 140 Opening Eyes volunteers to participate in the Special Olympics National Games held July, 2010 at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
